More Jobs Popping Up Across Canada

In yesterday’s blog, we highlighted the fact that Canada’s ever-strengthening economy is looking to experience yet another boost in the coming months. Sales and marketing jobs are on the rise, adding to the already-stellar rebounding mission that the nation has been on since the global financial crisis struck a couple of years ago.

More good news continues to flow in today, as Madhavi Acharya-Tom Yew reports in the Moneyville section of The Toronto Star’s website, that financial executives are also looking to go on a hiring frenzy in 2011. In fact, a recent survey found that nearly half of Canada’s top execs plan on adding to their staffs this year.

Reasons for the optimism about job growth include low interest rates and steady consumer confidence. The survey was conducted by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Royal Bank of Canada. It found that 22 per cent of the 350 senior position accountants polled believe that their staff will increase by 5 per cent by the end of the year.

The revelation of survey results coming out in the past few days are sure to put smiles on the faces of job seekers throughout the country. Unlike their American counterparts, they are the recipients of job opportunities based on companies who are looking to grow rather than cut costs in order to turn a profit. For Canadians, this is good news indeed.

The results also demonstrate a significant rise in optimism throughout a number of industries over the past year. As Acharya-Tom Yew notes, two thirds of the respondents from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Royal Bank of Canada survey report optimism, which is a 10 per cent jump from the previous quarter.

Consumer confidence has also grown steadily over the past few months even in spite of the incredibly high gas prices that drivers are currently experiencing. Said Kevin Dancey, the CICA’s president and chief executive officer: “One set of findings does not make a trend, but the results are encouraging.”

Canadian job seekers are encouraged, of course, to get their resumes ready. With job growth being such a major contributor to the nation’s ability to overcome the recession, it is important to be take advantage of the opportunities being presented.
