How To Prepare Your Business For The Start Of Spring

Believe it or not, we’re officially less than a month away from the beginning of spring! To be specific, this year’s Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere will be at 12:15 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 20th. So what does that mean for your business? With the start of every new season, you are given the opportunity to inject new life, new energy and new excitement into your customers!

What steps are you taking to prepare your business for the start of spring?

Are you considering a new promotion? Will you announce a spring sale? Do you plan on launching a new advertising campaign? What about renovating your place of business? All of the above ideas are worthwhile ones. But let’s focus, for a second, on the importance of giving your company’s appearance a spring makeover. Naturally, the outdoors will look different once spring arrives. Gone will be the snow and its place, flowers, green grass and leaf-covered trees.

Why not complement the look of the outdoors with a fresh new indoor appearance? “How you design your company can speak to your brand, your company’s core message, or the overall vibe of the customer experience within your business,” says Parasido Insurance on their website, “A great way to display your company’s core messages or brand is to have custom artwork on display that speaks to your brand or core values.”

Companies that invest in giving themselves fresh new looks tend to attract a lot more customers. But, of course, those customers will also be interested in discovering what great new things the companies have to offer. And, as you’re likely aware, most shoppers purchase items in advance of when they need them. That means that to adequately prepare for spring means to have an abundance of summer-based items available for sale.

Preparing for spring means preparing for summer!

According to marketing research firm, Traf-Sys, the first day of spring usually makes people start itching for summer. “In preparation for spring breaks, consumers will start to purchase summer items,” says their website, “In preparation for summer weddings, many brides will start their registries in the spring. Retailers can take advantage of those with spring fever by offering earlybird sales on these purchases.”

Traf-Sys also points out that it’s wise to develop promotions around the spring’s most popularly celebrated occasions. They include holidays such as Passover, Easter and Good Friday, unique celebrations like St. Patrick’s Day, April Fool’s Day and Earth Day and even special events like March Madness, Major League Baseball’s Opening Day and the Academy Awards.

The firm also reminds business owners to beware of the slow sales season that often comes in the spring. Their site notes that by the time April rolls around, spring fashions have been on the shelves for a while, prompting consumers to expect sales. “To reinvigorate shoppers during this slow month, you could do something fun or funny – for example, emailing them a coupon that congratulates them for filing their taxes,” Traf-Sys suggests.
