How To Secure A Job In The New Year

Synergy Merchant Services is happy to announce that we are opening our doors to job-seekers who are interested in new career opportunities. Always excited about helping the Canadian economy to grow, Synergy also remains a leader in providing employment to those with the skills and determination to be successful.

Now, we won’t lie to you. Locating ideal candidates to help spread the word about our merchant funding program has not always been an easy task. As with most businesses, we are looking for reliable, hard-working and dedicated individuals who are motivated to achieve.

Business owners across Canada will know very well what we mean when we say that while most job applicants claim to possess these traits, very few ever live up to them. We thought that with the new year in full swing, we would share some of our tips to those who are currently seeking employment.

Whether you decide to apply for a position at Synergy or not, these tips will help you to make a good impression on your would-be employers. First of all, please be sure to arrive for your interview on time. Showing up late for your interview does not provide a good first impression on your interviewer.

Tardiness is one of the biggest problems that business owners have to face when it comes to their employees. If you can’t make it on time for your interview, what is the employer supposed to imagine your timeliness to be like if you were to be hired? Perhaps, we should have started with the next tip.

Please remember that your interview actually begins with your first phone call to the business. When calling a company in an attempt to gain employment, be sure to be polite and professional. Both the sound of your voice and your attitude will go a long way in whether or not the employer decides to even bring you in for an interview.

Remember that the initial phone call is the first impression that the employer will have of you. Don’t assume that the person answering the phone isn’t important. In the case of hiring, the receptionist is just as important as the boss as far as most companies are concerned. Your first point of contact is sure to pass on the message about what type of individual called in. You want it to be a favorable mention.

Don’t forget your resume! You would be surprised how many candidates have shown up to Synergy without a resume. This tip is another possibility for “first on the list” things to do. Sometimes, it is not even the resume itself that is the important thing. But, the fact that you had the foresight to bring one in shows your due diligence and attempt to take the necessary steps to secure a job position.

We will continue to take a look at some more tips on how to secure a job in tomorrow’s blog.
