How To Make A Splash With Your Summertime Inventory
In our last blog, we listed three popular items that merchants should stock up on during the summertime. Swimwear, hydration products and gardening supplies rounded out our list. Of course, by no means was the list comprehensive. In today’s blog, we’d like to further our look into how you can make a splash with your summertime inventory.
Sell camping gear.
The warm weather invokes a desire in most of us to be outside more often. Enter camping trips. During this time of year, it’s wise for your store to stock up on tents, sleeping bags and portable grills. In addition, high-tech gadgets like solar-powered chargers and portable fans add a modern twist to traditional camping equipment. Don’t forget lightweight cookware, compact furniture, and easy-to-carry backpacks.
CampReservations.com places breathable clothing atop their list of essential camping gear for summer. “You still need to dress warm when camping in summer, because temperatures can plummet overnight – even after warm days,” alerts the website, “That means your clothing needs to be able to keep you cozy, but it also has to be breathable so air can get in and cool you down when the temperature rises.”
Offer barbeque tools and accessories.
Mmmm, we can just smell it now! Is there anything better than the aroma that emanates from summer barbeques? Associate your store with that smell. Stock up on barbecue tools, marinades and seasoning kits. Consider offering your customers all they need for their outdoor dining sets too. Tables, chairs and umbrellas come to mind. Don’t forget barbeque apparel such as aprons, gloves and hats for the real BBQ connoisseurs.
“Place attractive grill displays throughout the store, near the entrance and in high-traffic areas,” suggests Retail Space Solutions, “By doing so, you can improve store perception by allowing customers to easily find what they need and get in and out of the grocery store faster. To encourage grilling for less-commonly-grilled items, consider a take-home recipe card or QR code.”
Deliver fun and games.
Summer and playing games go hand in hand, don’t they? What’s a barbeque or a camping trip without some fun challenges to partake in? Make some space on your store’s shelves for cornhole boards, badminton sets and bocce balls. Offer giant Jenga, ladder toss and spikeball as options. Be sure to showcase all of your games throughout the store to encourage impulse buys from customers who are looking to enhance their outdoor parties.
Perhaps, you can introduce the Kingdoms lawn game to your customers as well. “Kingdoms is what you get when you combine tabletop role-playing games with the simple pleasures of a lawn game,” explains Wilder Davies for Epicurious, “There’s a lot to it, but in short, players stake out territory, build castles, and knock down opponent fortresses with wooden balls. Up to 16 people can play at a time, and the game doesn’t need flat terrain to work.”
